CarMax

CarMax is the largest used car retailer in the United States and is a Fortune 500 and S&P 500 public company trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under ticker symbol KMX. They were founded in 1993 and are headquartered in Richmond, VA. CarMax currently operates 173 used car stores in 86 markets throughout the United States, and has sold over 6 million cars to date. Each location carries an inventory of 300-400 vehicles and turns its inventory over eight to ten times per year. CarMax prefers to own its locations which are typically land parcels in the ten-acre range, with buildings that are approximately 45,000 square feet in size. SullivanHayes represents CarMax in Connecticut, Rhode Island and western Massachusetts and has opened five locations for CarMax in the market.
