New 7 Eleven Breaks Ground in West Haven, CT
August 23, 2021
After over 15 years of sitting vacant and desolate, the infamous “Former Staples Property” in West Haven is finally being redeveloped. The 3 acre site at 480 Saw Mill is now under construction for a new flagship 7 Eleven convenience store and gas station, with 20 consumer fueling positions, and 4 diesel fueling positions.
The store will be anchored by two of 7 Elevens new restaurant offerings – Laredo Taco and Roost Chicken. The evolution store will be the first location of its kind in the country to have both new restaurant concepts in a single location.
The property was long considered one of the last great retail sites along the Connecticut shoreline. However the site was always seen as difficult to redevelop because of its tricky topography. Finally through a collaborative and creative effort from all involved, the team was successfully able to design a perfect and functional convenience store property.
Overall the site really makes for the perfect convenience store location. It sits right along I-95 at an off ramp with visibility to over 125,000 vehicles per day. The store shares a traffic signal with Walmart, and Saw Mill Road is a heavily trafficked local route for those going to and from the regional Boston Post Road retail corridor. It also acts as a local commuting path for those living in West Haven, Orange, Milford and other nearby communities.
